In the heart of the mesmerizing rolling meadows, dwelt a shepherd boy. His being was mostly pure, simple, and honest. His primary duty was essentially to care for his herd of ewes.

Their gentle baas and the whispering of the breezes across the single tree on the hilltop were his only co-dwellers. Day after day, watching over his charges instilled in him a notion of quiet fulfillment.

One afternoon he dashed into the village shouting “Wolf! A read more wolf is that has taken my sheep!” The scared villagers sprinted up the hills for rescue but found no beast.

The boy giggled at the dilemma on their faces. This trick laughed for a few days more. Yet, one day, a real wolf did come to prey the flock. The shepherd boy raced for help, shouting “Wolf, Wolf!” But this time, no one came.

Frustrated and alone, the boy struggled against the wolf but could protect only few of his flock. Heartbroken, he went back to the village only to receive a lesson on honesty and the results of false alarms.

His tale of this shepherd boy has been handed down generations as a mediaeval parable to teaching the importance of honesty, the consequences of lying and the risks of false alarms. Moreover, it highlights how trust once lost, is tough to earn back. It's a story as pertinent today as it was in the past.
